Icecream Image Resizer, as the name implies, is a tool that allows you to resize digital images for free.
Drag and drop individual or whole folders to add source images. Any images imported are displayed as a list with a small thumbnail to confirm you have the correct pictures.
To enter the target resolution, you can use "Width", and "Height". You can also choose a profile that suits your needs ("Facebook timeline cover") sets it at 851x851, while "HD720p" (1280x720) and "iPhone 4" (960x640). You have the option to adjust portrait images automatically while keeping the original aspect ratio.
Image Resizer has one obvious advantage: it displays the destination file size up front. Simply enter the resolution to see the difference. It sounded fantastic, but we had to test it. We found that it was a rough estimate and very inaccurate (2MB for one set, they really needed 420KB).
There are other options. Your resized images will default be saved in a subfolder. Image Resizer allows you to save them to the exact same folder with the prefix "mini_" or to another folder.
After everything has been configured click Resize to resize the source images as you request. You can also choose to open the folder to view the final results.
Version 2.09 ().
Icecream Image Resizer has only a handful of features. None are particularly innovative, but the interface is easy and does the basics.
